Day 01: LIMA: Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Lima.
Day 02: LIMA:
In the morning, city tour of Colonial Lima visiting the Cathedral, located in the Main Square which was rebuilt on the same site from 1555, under the direction of Jesuit priest Juan Rehr after the 1746 earthquake. Both its façade and interior are austere with its remarkable wooden choir stalls, altars and the tomb of Francisco Pizarro, who died in 1541, are to be noted. Then, you will visit the Church of San Francisco, with its convent, museum of colonial art, cloisters and catacombs. The church is built on top of a network of underground tunnels or catacombs which were used as a cemetery during colonial times, and today is open to the general public. Afterwards, panoramic view of the Main Square with the Government Palace, the Municipal Hall, the “Desamparados” Train Station, and finally drive through the old streets with their vice traditional mansions and Moorish style balconies. Continue through the most traditional residential and commercial areas of contemporary Lima, passing by sites of pre-Columbian Civilisations dating back to the beginning of the Christian era. Finally, you will enjoy a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean.

Day 03: LIMA - PTO. MALDONADO - LOGDE
Transfer to the airport to take your flight to Puerto Maldonado.
On arrival to Puerto Maldonado reception and transfer to the main port of embarkation.
Two hour journey by boat along the Tambopata river. Arrival to Cayman Lodge, welcome cocktail and brief orientation.
Afternoon excursion through the local rainforest.
Evening excursion to observe nocturnal animals and the many sounds from the jungle. Overnight. (B-L-D)
Day 04: LAKE SACHAVACAYOC
Two hour trek through the rainforest to Lake Sachavacayoc, observe the many medicinal plants.
Arrival to lake, canoe excursion to observe the giant otters, monkeys, birds and many other mammals.
Early lunch in the rainforest facing the lake.
In the afternoon, you will return to the lodge.
Night excursion to see caimans. Overnight. (B-L-D)
Day 05: LODGE – PTO. MALDONADO – CUSCO:
You will be transferred to the airport of Pto. Maldonado to take your flight to Cusco (30 min.). Reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, you will visit Cusco’s Historical Inca and Spanish Colonial Monuments, such as the Main Square, known in Inca times as Huacaypata or the Warrior’s Square, it was the scene for many key events in Cusco’s history. The Cathedral, originally built on the site of the old temple of Suntur Wasi (House of God), now the church of El Triunfo, a particular interest are the choir cloisters, the pulpit, the engravings on the altar and furniture.
Continue onto the Church and Convent of Santo Domingo, a Spanish construction belonging to the Dominican Order built upon the foundations of the Inca temple of Koricancha or Temple of the Sun. Koricancha (in quechua, site of gold) was the main religious building of the Incas dedicated to the worship of the Sun and whose walls, according to the chroniclers, were plated with sheets of gold. Magnificent blocks of finely carved stone were used in its construction.
After, you will visit the surrounding ruins of the city of Cusco: Sacsayhuamán, this huge Inca fortress is built on three overlapping platforms, each of them over 360 m long. Then, onto Tambomachay, known as the Inca baths. It was apparently a site dedicated to the worship of water and a resting place for the Inca monarch. Kenko, it is said to have been a worship site. There is a huge 5,9 m high stone block that looks like a puma. There are also passages, canals and stairways with stone engravings representing animals. Finally, Puca Pucará, which was an administrative and military centre formed by terraces, stairways, passages, turrets and vaulted niches. Overnight in Cusco. (B).

Day 06: CUSCO – SACRED VALLEY - CUSCO:
Full day visit of the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Urubamba.
You will visit the famous Pisac Market, attracting thousands of visitors and people from remote communities, dressed in colourful, traditional attire. In the marketplace are exhibited all types of colourful products.
Continue, onto the ancient village of Ollantaytambo, with its Inca Streets and Squares and houses built on the top of Inca Ruins. Ollantaytambo Sanctuary is one of the most important archaeological complexes of Peru, containing religious, astronomic, administrative, urban, farming and agriculture complexes. Typical lunch. In the late afternoon, you will return to your hotel in Cusco (B-L).

OPTION 1:
INCA TREK 4 Days / 3 Nights
You will be transferred from your hotel to Km 88 where you will start the trek. You will cross a semi-arid area through the Urubamba river, with the ever impressive views of the white glaciers. Camp at Llulluchapampa (3 200 masl), with great views of the white mountain of Wayanay (5 600 masl). (B-L-D).

Day 08: LLULLUCHAPAMPA - SAYACMARCA:
Trek to Warmihuañusca pass (4 050 masl.) and the Ruins of Sayacmarca (3 600 masl.) where you will make second camp.

Day 09: SAYACMARCA - WIÑAY WAINA:
From here the stone road takes you into the Jungle. You will continue your trek towards the Ruins of Phuyupatamarca where the path goes down to the Ruins of Wiñay Wayna, where you will make your third camp. (B-L-D).
Day 10: WIÑAY WAYNA - MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO:
Very early in the morning you will cross Intipunku the last pass and arrive to Machu Picchu and the Sanctuary. Explore the ruins.
In the afternoon, you will return by train to Cusco. On arrival reception and transfer to your hotel and overnight in Cusco. (B).
OPTION 2:LARES & MACHU PICCHU 4 Days/ 3 Nights
You leave from Cusco early in the morning by private bus and travel through the Sacred Valley arriving to Lares Hot Springs and spend the morning soaking in the medicinal hot springs, after lunch you have two hours of trek to your campsite.

Day 08: Wacawasi – Epsaycocha:
After continuing up through the valley, you arrive to the community of Wacawasi. People here produce some of the finest weavings in Peru. Here, you can observe their great skills and brilliant techniques in the fabrication of ponchos and other garments. Passing the village you begin climbing up to Condor Pass at 4100m. From here, you catch a stunning view of the renowned Mount Veronica (5 750m.)
Descending gently for about one hour, you come to the beautiful Epsaycocha Lake, your last campsite. Overnight / Camp. (B-L-D).
Day 09: Epsaycocha – Patacancha – Huylloc – Pumamarka – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes:
Today your trail leads downhill to an overlook facing a wide valley. Descending into the valley, you eventually arrive to the community of Huylloc where you have lunch, from here it takes two hours to arrive to Pumamarka and enjoy the Inca terraces, finally you arrive to Ollantaytambo. Situated in a fertile river valley and sheltered by mammoth mountains, this ancient Inca village is considered one of the most important living museums in the world. This is a perfect place to appreciate the vast archaeological remains and a wide variety of flowers and birds species.
From here you take the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes at 8:00 pm and spend the night there in a comfortable hostel.

Day 10: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu - Cusco
After an early breakfast, you will take the bus to Machu Picchu, from here you begin your guided visit of the Sanctuary.
After time to relax before you will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes, where you will have free time to enjoy the town before you return to Cusco by train. (B).
OPTION 3:SALKANTAY - MACHU PICCHU TREK5 Days / 4 Nights
Day 07: Cusco - Challacancha – Sorayapampa
Breakfast. Departure from your hotel at approx 05:45 and transfer to Mollepata a small town 2½ hours from Cusco, which is the start of your 5-day trek. Light snack whilst luggage is loaded onto mules. Finally, you will begin your trek, making your way to Challacancha where you will rest, lunch prepared and served, afterwards you will continue walking as far as Sorayapampa, your first camp (Altitude 3 900 masl). Overnight. (B-L-D).

Day 08: Sorayapampa - Salkantay – Qolcapampa
Breakfast and an early morning start in which you will make your way towards the high snow mountain Salkantay (4 600 masl). You will have the opportunity to see great views of this mountain. Lunch. After, you will begin to descend towards the cloudforest as you begin to enter this area the vegetation and wildlife will become abundant with lots of butterflies, birds until you reach Qolcapampa where you will make your second camp (3 300 masl). Day 09: Qolcapampa – Lucmabamba:
After breakfast, you will bath in the local hot springs and onto La Playa, where you can fish for lunch and afterwards you will continue walking until Lucmabamba where you will camp. (B-L-D).
Day 10: Lucmabamba – Village of Aguas Calientes:
Breakfast. Trek to an area well known for its special ecosystem. Lunch. Then, you will continue trekking to arrive close to the back of Machu Picchu and finally make your way to the village of Aguas Calientes for your last night camp. (B-L-D).
Day 11: Village of Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco:
Early breakfast and after you will take the bus to the Sanctuary, where you will have your guided morning visit. In the afternoon, return by train. Overnight. (B).

Day 2 : PUNO - UROS - TAQUILE:
Full day visit of the Floating Island of Uros in Lake Titicaca. Located 4 km from Puno, the original inhabitants of these floating islands are said to descend from one of the most ancient peoples of the Americas and still to this day practise there ancient traditions. Their dwellings made of totora reed are built on the surface of Lake Titicaca.
Afterwards, you will make your way to the unique Island of Taquile, where time appears to have stopped. The Mediterranean atmosphere of this place is striking, with its steps of stone and its houses centred around the square. Its indigenous community that lives here, around 350 families are descendants of the Incas and known for there Textile activities, such as there beautifully woven chumpis (belts), chullos (caps), and ojotas (and sandals) and according to the custom, officials are distinguished by black or brown caps. The most popular attractions in Taquile are its landscape, dominated by tiered platforms where potatoes, corn, quinua and broad beans are cultivated; ceremonial sites hosting rituals imploring for abundant harvests and fishing, and the hospitability of its people, who are so outstandingly organised. The textile industry is the main activity on this island and the garments they manufacture relate to their daily chores. Also it offers a magnificent lake landscape from where the impressive snowfalls of the Cordillera Real (Real mountain chain) can be seen.

Waves and Temperature
Due to its geographic location, it receives excellent swells from the north (October-April), south (April-September), southeast and northeast.
In general, the waves in the area are practically perfect, many with magic barrels that never exceed 4 meters (16ft) but are often long and produce barrel sections.
Wind and Surf
Winds depend a lot on the beach and the time of the year. For example, the best season for Kite is from April to November, where winds can exceed 30 knots.
Besides, in the afternoon, the wind comes up and disorganises the waves making the conditions ideal for kite.
Here you will find consistent left-hand point break. It rarely tubes (with the exception of El Niño). Máncora holds waves up to two and a half meters (Approx 9ft.), except during El Niño Phenomenon waves are over 3 meters (10ft.).

Afterwards, you will make your way to the unique Island of Taquile, where time appears to have stopped. Its indigenous community is known for its textile activities, such as their beautifully woven chumpis (belts), chullos (caps), and ojotas (sandals). Day 01: LIMA: Arrival and you will be transferred from the airport to your selected hotel. Overnight in Lima.
Day 02: LIMA - CUSCO: You will be transferred to Lima Airport to take your flight to Cusco. Arrival to Cusco, reception and transfer to your selected hotel.
In the afternoon, you will visit Cusco’s Historical Inca and Spanish Colonial Monuments, such as the Main Square, known in Inca times as Huacaypata or the Warrior’s Square, it was the scene for many key events in Cusco’s history. The Cathedral, originally built on the site of the old temple of Suntur Wasi (House of God), now the church of El Triunfo, a particular interest are the choir cloisters, the pulpit, the engravings on the altar and furniture.
You will continue onto the Church and Convent of Santo Domingo, a Spanish construction belonging to the Dominican Order built upon the foundations of the Inca temple of Koricancha or Temple of the Sun. Koricancha (in quechua, site of gold) was the main religious building of the Incas dedicated to the worship of the Sun and whose walls, according to the chroniclers, were plated with sheets of gold. Magnificent blocks of finely carved stone were used in its construction.
After, you will visit the surrounding ruins of the city of Cusco: Sacsayhuamán, this huge Inca fortress is built on three overlapping platforms, each of them over 360 m long. Then, onto Tambomachay, known as the Inca baths. It was apparently a site dedicated to the worship of water and a resting place for the Inca monarch. Kenko, it is said to have been a worship site. There is a huge 5,9 m high stone block that looks like a puma. There are also passages, canals and stairways with stone engravings representing animals. Finally, Puca Pucará, which was an administrative and military centre formed by terraces, stairways, passages, turrets and vaulted niches.

Day 03: CUSCO – MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO:
Early in the morning, departure to the Lost City of the Incas: Machu Picchu, by train in Tourist Class (Backpacker), Pls note Optional (First Class train). Spectacular train journey crossing valleys, mountains and typical communities. The altitude will descend from 3,500 to 1,500 m.a.s.l. Crossing two different regions from the sierra to the rainforests. Snow peaks, eucalyptus, deep canyons and orchids are also part of the sceneries. This stone citadel, located 112 km from Cusco, was discovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911. The citadel was built on a very special spot covered in vegetation between two mountains: the Machu Picchu (old mountain) and Huayna Picchu (young mountain), at the foot of which meanders the Urubamba or Vilcanota River (lower Jungle featuring abundant flora and fauna). Day 03: LIMA - AREQUIPA:
You will be transferred to the airport to take your flight to the city of Arequipa. Arrival to Arequipa, reception and you will be transferred to your selected hotel.
In the morning, city tour; visiting the Santa Catalina Convent, the most important in Peru, a walled citadel of more than 20,000m2 and comprised of cloisters, the walls were enriched by murals, narrow streets with Spanish names, small cells, white volcano stone fountains, gardens, an impressive temple and a small picture gallery. It served for four centuries as the only physical world for several generations of Cloistered nuns. During the city tour, you will visit the Church Cloisters of the Company, a tremendous collection of Domes, Arches, which can all be found in its galleries and Alters.
Other places of interest are the Main Square, the Complex of San Francisco, which consists of a public square, two temples (the Church of San Francisco and the Temple of the Third Order), a convent and the Fierro Foundation (where there is a museum and a handicraft market). The Cathedral, located in the main square and which was destroyed by fire in 1844 and restored in 1868 by Arequipa-native Lucas Poblete in Neo-renaissance style with French influence, is considered to be one of the biggest in South America.
Finally, the Spanish Colonial district of Yanahuara, 2 km from the city’s centre, consisting of narrow cobblestone streets and old white volcanic stone houses. Day 04: AREQUIPA – COLCA CANYON:
Journey to one of the deepest Canyons in the World "The Colca". The Tour begins with the winding road that leaves the "White City" of Arequipa crossing the snow capped Misti, Chachani and the Ampato Volcanoes, to arrive at the Colca Canyon. Here you will find the famous and majestic eagle, the Andean Condor, where elegant Vicuñas wander the high plains, pass through the villages of Torja, Chucura, Patapampa, with its Colonial Churches and Inca Farming Terraces.
In the afternoon, you will visit the village of Chivay or enjoy La Calera thermo-medicinal baths. Overnight in Colca. (B-L-D).
Day 05: COLCA CANYON - PUNO:
Breakfast and departure to the “Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint”, the most strategic area to see the Colca Canyon and the flight of the Condors’. Latter you will continue your way, observing the pre-Inca tombs and stop in the villages of Pinchollo, Maca, Yanque, Cabanaconde, Coporaque and the amphitheatre of Ocolle, Chichinea and Colcas.
In the afternoon, departure to Puno, passing by Lagunillas, where you will see the typical flora of the area, wild birds, sheep, vicuña and llama, with the ever impressive Andean Mountains Range. Arrival and you will be transferred to your hotel.

Day 06: PUNO – LAKE TITICACA:
Full day visit of the Floating Island of Uros in Lake Titicaca. Located 4 km from Puno, the original inhabitants of these floating islands are said to descend from one of the most ancient peoples of the Americas and still to this day practise their ancient traditions. Their dwellings made of totora reed are built on the surface of Lake Titicaca.
Afterwards, you will make your way to the unique and peaceful Island of Taquile, where time appears to have stopped. The Mediterranean atmosphere of this place is striking, with its steps of stone and its houses centred around the square. Its indigenous community that lives here, around 350 families are descendants of the Incas and known for their Textile activities, such as their beautifully woven chumpis (belts), chullos (caps), and ojotas (and sandals) and according to the custom, officials are distinguished by black or brown caps. The most popular attractions in Taquile are its landscape, dominated by tiered platforms where potatoes, corn, quinua and broad beans are cultivated; ceremonial sites hosting rituals imploring for abundant harvests and fishing, and the hospitability of its people, who are so outstandingly organised. The textile industry is the main activity on this island and the garments they manufacture relate to their daily chores. Also it offers a magnificent lake landscape from where the impressive snowfalls of the Cordillera Real (Real mountain chain) can be seen.

Full day visit to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, a pre-Hispanic agriculture centre.
Visit the old Inca Community of Pisac, (only on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday) located at the entrance to the Sacred Valley, 32 Km from Cusco. Its traditional colourful local market have over the centuries attracted the local traders and remote communities from all over the valley, to come and sell their wares. Dressed in their traditional and colourful costumes, now attract many visitors.
Afterwards, you will visit the Inca temple of Ollantaytambo, with its Inca Streets, traditional Squares and dwellings which have been built onto the ancient foundations of the Incas.

Lunch in Huanchaco beach, an ancient Chimu port with its colonial church located at the highest point of the port and famous for its “Caballitos de Totora”, straw boats still used by local fishermen. In the afternoon, you will visit Chan Chan, located 4 Km to the north of Trujillo, it lodged 50,000 people. It was the religious and administrative capital of the Chimú Kingdom and the largest adobe citadel of pre-Hispanic America. It is an ancient complete city with streets, houses, water tanks, pyramids and temples, a great urban centre. It was declared as a Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. Finally, you will visit Huaca Dragon, a temple dedicated to the Rainbow, located 5 km from Trujillo. It is considered as a ceremonial place by researches and related to the fertility. Day 13: TRUJILLO - CHICLAYO - LIMA:
In the morning, you will visit of the “Huaca del Sol y la Luna” and its treasure. The Huaca del Sol, a pyramid 20m high, according to the tradition it was built in only 3 days using 250 000 people and 70 million blocks of adobes. It was used for ceremonial purposes and possibly in administrative functions as well as for housing for the upper class. The Huaca de la Luna, located in front of the Huaca del Sol, is smaller. In some of its adobe walls still exist paintings where appears the Ai-Apaek God. Archaeologists have discovered a tomb with more than 40 dead soldiers. Transfer to the city of Chiclayo. Visit the “Tumbas Reales” Museum, which is a modern building with pyramidal infrastructure. It looks like a flattened pyramid formed by five prisms that are held together by leaning planes. Each prism bears a replica of the banners found in the Tomb of the Lord of Sipán. Their colours, red and yellow, are similar to those used by the Moches throughout their decorations. The aim of the museum is to recreate the atmosphere of the temples of that civilisation, serving as a museum as well as a mausoleum and resting place for the Lord of Sipán and his companions. It was opened on November 8, 2002 and is one of the most sophisticated museums in the region.

Day 03: AREQUIPA – CUSCO
Transfer to the airport to take your flight to the city of Cusco. Reception and transfer to your hotel, welcome coca tea; drink to acclimatize to the high altitude.
In the afternoon, you will visit Cusco’s Historical Inca and Spanish Colonial Monuments, such as the Main Square, known in Inca times as Huacaypata or the Warrior’s Square, it was the scene for many key events in Cusco’s history. The Cathedral, originally built on the site of the old temple of Suntur Wasi (House of God), now the church of El Triunfo, a particular interest are the choir cloisters, the pulpit, the engravings on the altar and furniture. Continue onto the Church and Convent of Santo Domingo, a Spanish construction belonging to the Dominican Order built upon the foundations of the Inca temple of Koricancha or Temple of the Sun. Koricancha (in quechua, site of gold) was the main religious building of the Incas dedicated to the worship of the Sun and whose walls, according to the chroniclers, were plated with sheets of gold. Magnificent blocks of finely carved stone were used in its construction.
After, you will visit the surrounding ruins of the city of Cusco: Sacsayhuamán, this huge Inca fortress is built on three overlapping platforms, each of them over 360 m long. Then, onto Tambomachay, known as the Inca baths. It was apparently a site dedicated to the worship of water and a resting place for the Inca monarch. Kenko, it is said to have been a worship site. There is a huge 5,9 m high stone block that looks like a puma. There are also passages, canals and stairways with stone engravings representing animals. Finally, Puca Pucará, which was an administrative and military centre formed by terraces, stairways, passages, turrets and vaulted niches.

Day 04: CUSCO – MACHU PICCHU - CUSCO:
Early morning, you will be transferred to take the Tourist Class train (Backpacker) to Machu Picchu Sanctuary, Pls note Optional (First Class train). Spectacular train journey crossing valleys, mountains and typical communities. The altitude will descend from 3,500 to 1,500 m.a.s.l. Crossing two different regions from the sierra to the rainforests. Snow peaks, eucalyptus, deep canyons and orchids are also part of the sceneries.
This stone citadel, located 112 km from Cusco, was discovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911. The citadel was built on a very special spot covered in vegetation between two mountains: the Machu Picchu (old mountain) and Huayna Picchu (young mountain), at the foot of which meanders the Urubamba or Vilcanota River (lower Jungle featuring abundant flora and fauna). Guided tour of the sanctuary.
In the afternoon, you will return to Cusco by train Tourist Class. (Optional: Train first class). Transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Cusco. (B).

Day 05: CUSCO - PUNO:
Transfer to the station to board the regular bus to the city of Puno. On route, you will pass by the villages of Andahuaylillas, Racchi and Pucará.

Day 06: PUNO:
Full day visit of the Floating Island of Uros in Lake Titicaca. Located 4 km from Puno, the original inhabitants of these floating islands are said to descend from one of the most ancient peoples of the Americas and still to this day practise their ancient traditions. Their dwellings made of totora reed are built on the surface of Lake Titicaca.
Afterwards, you will make your way to the unique Island of Taquile, where time appears to have stopped. The Mediterranean atmosphere of this place is striking, with its steps of stone and its houses centred around the square. Its indigenous community that lives here, around 350 families are descendants of the Incas and known for their Textile activities, such as their beautifully woven chumpis (belts), chullos (caps), and ojotas (and sandals) and according to the custom, officials are distinguished by black or brown caps. The most popular attractions in Taquile are its landscape, dominated by tiered platforms where potatoes, corn, quinua and broad beans are cultivated; ceremonial sites hosting rituals imploring for abundant harvests and fishing, and the hospitability of its people, who are so outstandingly organised. The textile industry is the main activity on this island and the garments they manufacture relate to their daily chores. Also it offers a magnificent lake landscape from where the impressive snowfalls of the Cordillera Real (Real mountain chain) can be seen. Return to your hotel. Overnight in Puno. (B-L).

Transfer to the airport of Juliaca to take your flight to Lima. Reception and transfer to your hotel. Afternoon free for some shopping. Return to your hotel. Overnight in Lima. (B).

Day 07: PUNO - LA PAZ:
Early land transfer to Copacabana Sanctuary, where you will board the Catamaran Cruise Ship, with buffet lunch on board whilst sailing to Sun Island, the legendary birth place of the Inca Empire.
You will visit the Inca Garden, the Inti Wata Cultural Complex which includes the Ekako Underground Museum and its traditional medicines, the Titicaca Reed Shipbuilders display centre, the Pachamama agricultural Inca terraces, the Intica lounge and the Manco Kapac look out, featuring the largest variety of Andean cameloids. Finally, enjoy from Sun Island the unique sailing experience aboard the huge traditional islanders reed boat.
At the end of the day the Catamaran Cruise Ship will make its way to Chua harbour, land transfer to La Paz city and your hotel. (B-L).

Day 08: LA PAZ:
In the morning, you will begin your half day tour of La Paz, visiting the famous Witch Doctors Market and the San Francisco Colonial Church. The tour will then continue onto the Plaza Murillo, where the cathedral, the government palace and the national congress are located. Visit the famous street known a “Calle Jaen”, where you will find many small shops and houses clustered together, followed by the visit to the replica of the semi subterranean temple of the Tiwanaku Culture. Finally, your tour continues to the residential areas of Obrajes, Calacoto, La Florida and a visit to the Moon Valley, where you will explore and walk through this strange landscape. Afternoon free.

Day 10: CUSCO – SACRED VALLEY:
Full day visit to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, a pre-Hispanic agriculture centre.
You will visit the old Inca Community of Pisac, (only on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday) located at the entrance to the Sacred Valley, 32 Km from Cusco. Its traditional colourful local market have over the centuries attracted the local traders and remote communities from all over the valley, to come and sell their wares. Dressed in their traditional and colourful costumes, now attract many visitors.
Continue onto the Salt Mines of Maras, an impressive complex of salt extraction. The extraction method employed involves using an ancient drying process, whereby saltwater, flowing from an underground stream, is left in thousands of wells until it has evaporated, leaving behind only the salt, which is then ready to be sold or exchanged for provisions.
Afterwards, you will visit the Inca temple of Ollantaytambo, with its Inca Streets, traditional Squares and dwellings which have been built onto the ancient foundations of the Incas.

Day 14: CUSCO - LIMA:
In the morning, you will be transferred to the airport to take your flight to Lima.
In the afternoon, city tour of Colonial Lima visiting the Cathedral, located in the Main Square which was rebuilt on the same site from 1555, under the direction of Jesuit priest Juan Rehr after the 1746 earthquake. Both its façade and interior are austere with its remarkable wooden choir stalls, altars and the tomb of Francisco Pizarro, who died in 1541, are to be noted.
Then, you will visit the Church of San Francisco, with its convent, museum of colonial art, cloisters and catacombs. The church is built on top of a network of underground tunnels or catacombs which were used as a cemetery during colonial times, and today is open to the general public. Afterwards, panoramic view of the Main Square with the Government Palace, the Municipal Hall, the “Desamparados” Train Station, and finally drive through the old streets with their vice traditional mansions and Moorish style balconies. Continue through the most traditional residential and commercial areas of contemporary Lima, passing by sites of pre-Columbian Civilisations dating back to the beginning of the Christian era.
In the evening, Farewell dinner in one Lima’s well known restaurants.

Day 14: CUSCO / PUERTO MALDONADO – TAMBOPATA:
Transfer from Pto. Maldonado airport to the city market to buy fruits and local crafts. Transfer to the Madre de Dios River port. A 45-minute trip by outboard motorboat until you arrive to the Amazon Reserve. Welcome and explanation of hours, rules and general recommendations for a safe and comfortable stay. You will have lunch and brief moment for a nap in your hammock. In the afternoon, a guided walk for an hour through the reserve along one of the Amazon trails. Explanation of the fragility of the fauna and flora of the tropical forest and methods of conservation. By night, an hour of walking along the riverbank in search of the caiman. Possibility of seeing the largest rodent in the world: the Capybara or ronsoco.
During the rainy season, or when the waters of the rivers are very high, this activity could be replaced by a nocturnal walk along one of the paths next to the lodge. Perhaps you will see nocturnal animals (moths, tarantulas, armadillos and ocelots, among others) with the aid of flashlights.

“Cabañas” in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest
Day 15: TAMBOPATA:
Breakfast buffet. A 20-minute upriver voyage on the Madre de Dios River by outboard motor boat. Guided walk through the rainforest approximately 1 hour. On the 3 km stretch you can appreciate a variety of plants and giant trees, some toads and frogs and reptiles, birds and butterflies. Embark by rowboat to glide along the canal through the marsh. Return to the Madre de Dios River, 5 minutes by boat and after a short walk through wet tropical forest, through plantations of cacao, coffee and other plants you will come upon the famous Fitzcarrald boat, grounded inland. Return to lodge for lunch and time for a nap. Excursion by boat to nearby plantations, land clearings cultivated by a local community. Afterwards, excursion by boat to Rolín Island, fauna rescue centre, located across from the lodge and a 10-minute walk through the tropical forest to enter an ecosystem. Visit to the Rolín community’s forest, cared for and managed by the schoolchildren.
Then, you will visit the Canopy Walk. Imagine walking high above the rainforest, seeing the jungle ecosystem in the same way that the birds. This 344-meter (1,135-feet)-long complex of seven hanging bridges, six treetop observation platforms, and two 29-meter (95-feet)-tall towers-woven through the crowns of the tallest trees-offers visitors glimpses of rare and unusual flora and fauna, impossible to see from the ground.
It is considered one of the safest canopy walkways in the world. The ground-level Interpretation Center is packed with information about the rainforest and its ecology. Return to Reserva Amazónica, typical dinner and overnight. (B–L-D).

Breakfast buffet. Departure in the traditional boat called “peque-peque” on a journey about 30 minutes downriver to observe the still virgin Gamitana River gorge (10 000 ha or 24 710 acres) and birds, monkeys, alligators, nests of turtle eggs from (April to November).
The journey continues to Loboyoc, a tributary of the Gamitana and an important system of marshes. Arriving at Loboyoc, a box lunch will be served on board and there will be a 15-minute rest. Possibility of fishing local style. Return to lodge, typical dinner and overnight. (B–L-D).

Day 15: LIMA - TRUJILLO:
Arrival to Trujillo, transfer to hotel. City tour, visiting the Main Square, surrounded by the Cathedral, which was built on a terrace in 1616 and destroyed by the earthquakes of 1619 and 1635. Inside you will appreciate the Baroque and Rococo style altars, paintings and multi-coloured sculptures. The temple has three naves and an exquisitely engraved lower choir.
Then, onto the Orbegoso House, a traditional colonial house with pitted floors and with ample rooms disposed on an elevated earthwork. It is an example of the local aristocratic exquisite taste.
The Iturregui Palace, an exquisite neoclassical two-plan mansion with an ample patio and rear court around which are distributed rooms, a temple, a refectory, etc., all showing the magnificence of their lattices, svelte columns, marble floors and ceilings with golden mouldings.
Later, you will visit the Archaeological Museum of Trujillo, located in a republican style old large house. It exhibits cultural expressions of the various pre-Hispanic civilisations, particularly ceramic, textiles and metal works, in addition to miniature models of the main pre-Hispanic ceremonial centres of the region. Also there is a special section dedicated to the citadel of Chan Chan.
Lunch in Huanchaco beach, an ancient Chimu port with its colonial church located at the highest point of the port and famous for its “Caballitos de Totora”, straw boats still used by local fishermen.
You will visit Chan Chan, located 4 Km to the north of Trujillo, it lodged 50,000 people. It was the religious and administrative capital of the Chimú Kingdom and the largest adobe citadel of pre-Hispanic America. It is an ancient complete city with streets, houses, water tanks, pyramids and temples, a great urban centre. It was declared as a Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.
Finally, you will visit Huaca Dragon, a temple dedicated to the Rainbow, located 5 km from Trujillo. It is considered as a ceremonial place by researches and related to the fertility. Its decorations show dancing warriors and the figure of a dragon.

Day 16: TRUJILLO – CHICLAYO:
Morning visit to the “Huaca del Sol y la Luna” and its treasure. The Huaca del Sol, a pyramid 20m high, according to the tradition it was built in only 3 days using 250 000 people and 70 million blocks of adobes. It was used for ceremonial purposes and possibly in administrative functions as well as for housing for the upper class. The Huaca de la Luna, located in front of the Huaca del Sol, is smaller. In some of its adobe walls still exist paintings where appears the Ai-Apaek God. Archaeologists have discovered a tomb with more than 40 dead soldiers.
Departure to Chiclayo to visit the “Tumbas Reales” Museum, which is a modern building with pyramidal infrastructure. It looks like a flattened pyramid formed by five prisms that are held together by leaning planes. Each prism bears a replica of the banners found in the Tomb of the Lord of Sipán. Their colours, red and yellow, are similar to those used by the Moches throughout their decorations. The aim of the museum is to recreate the atmosphere of the temples of that civilisation, serving as a museum as well as a mausoleum and resting place for the Lord of Sipán and his companions. It was opened on November 8, 2002 and is one of the most sophisticated museums in the region. Transfer to Chiclayo and overnight in Gran Hotel Chiclayo. (B-L).
